Training Seminar Days – September, 2015
Photo: l-r. Julie Farmer RN, Clinical Nurse Educator at Harbison Care, Burradoo. Pat Fulton RN (Hearing Awareness and Coach)
Forty one Nurses specialising in Aged Care attended the third Rodmell education seminar day for 2015 at ‘Abbey House’ Aged Care Nursing Facility in Mittagong. Speakers for the morning and afternoon back to back sessions were Dr. Peter Tyas, BDS, FICD, Dental Surgeon, VDO and Mrs. Pat Fulton RN, Hearing Coach.
This seminar was titled ‘High Level Personal Care’, for those people living in either residential facilities or receiving home nursing care. The day was extremely well received by attendees as Dr. Tyas and Mrs. Fulton shared their long experiences and combined high level knowledge in these two fields of personal care that can easily be overlooked by all of us. ‘Awareness’ was on top of the list for the day. The Rodmell Fund committee wishes to thank Dr. Tyas and Mrs. Fulton most sincerely for their enthusiasm, time, and excellent presentations, sharing material which often came as a surprise and was therefore greatly appreciated. Exceptional questions were asked and information shared generously by both speakers and nurses attending.

The gift of music therapy
Three of the Rodmell Committee presented bongo drums, a djembe drum and drumsticks to HarbisonCare on the 18th of June 2014 as a follow up to the Music Therapy Seminar Day in April 2013. The sticks and the drums are used in creating connections and building relationships between residents and the nursing staff.
